A decent sized footprint and steep enough roof pitch made this an ideal loft to convert in to the master bedroom, with an en-suite bathroom and under-eaves storage. East cliff, Folksetone
As with many loft conversions, making the new loft staircase fit into the existing house without sacrificing any space is always difficult. Good design early on is key. In this case the stairs continue to rise above the existing staircase and a dormer was created to provide head height for the top of the landing. This way the stairs did not eat in to existing house or take up too much of the loft space. With a panoramic window and a roof light in this dormer, the new stairwell feels light and looks attractive.
After lots of hard work and careful planning our customers have ended up gaining the best bedroom in the house for themselves! They have great views of the East Cliff thanks to the use of several Velux roof windows in the loft space as well the additional dormer windows. They insisted on using every ounce of space and so have full access to under the eaves storage on both ends as well as a deep and full height wardrobe behind the doorway.
